Common Grant Application Mistakes to Avoid
Most rejected applications are not rejected for weak ideas. They are rejected for avoidable, procedural reasons.

Applying when you are not eligible
Eligibility is usually a hard filter applied before assessment. If you miss a rule, nobody reads the narrative.
Answering a different question
Applicants often paste material from a previous bid that answers a question this funder did not ask. Assessors score against their own criteria, not against how good the paragraph is.
A budget that contradicts the narrative
If the narrative describes two staff and the budget funds one, the assessor has to choose which to believe. Usually they mark down both.
Vague outcomes
Outcomes without numbers or a measurement method read as aspiration. Say what will change, by how much, and how it will be evidenced.
Missing attachments and late submission
Portals close on time and incomplete submissions are set aside. Submit at least a day early; system problems on the deadline are not usually accepted as a reason for lateness.
